Wednesday, July 25—Calumet

Events kick off at 5 p.m. with the
Parade of Banners/replication of Helston Flora Dance

Since the Middle Ages, Helston has celebrated Flora (Furry)Day on May 8.  The town is decorated with bluebells and local greenery.


he festival draws thousands of people.There are three parades, each led by the Helston Town Band.  The first begins at 7 a.m. Men wear shirts and ties; ladies wear summer dresses.

Three Cornish couples will instruct Gathering participants in the steps of the Flora Dance.  The Parade will end back at Registration at the Calumet Schools. There the Taste of the Keweenaw takes place in the School Lunchrooms, introducing all to the fare of local restaurants.

White Water's performance will complete Wednesday events.
